Welcome to the Gilbert House home page!

In Gilbert House we hope you feel part of our family, where each student has a role to play and feels comfortable and safe in a positive, supportive learning environment.

In Gilbert House our motto is ‘Success Through Endeavour’ but we also pride ourselves on teamwork. Within the house we work hard to support local and national charities, raising thousands through exciting events that are fun and challenging!

Each year the House will come together during our annual ‘Away Day’. We work as one big team across all year groups, making friends and challenging ourselves. Previous events have included problem solving on Dartmoor, a charity coastal walk and a multi activity adventure day.

So what is it like to be part of Gilbert?

Matthew Lipton (7G)

“I feel lucky to be in Gilbert House as we have an excellent spirit and really work hard for each other as a team. This term I have been voted as a form captain, this has made me feel really proud! I was pleased that everyone made us feel so welcome when we first came to the school as it can be a scary time”.

Jake Belston – Form Captain (8G)

Being part of Gilbert House is great! Our Away Days are always brilliant, this year we went to Barton Hall PGL where we took part in adventurous activities such as, raft-building, zip-wiring and quad biking. Our productions in theatre and expressive arts take place every year and are always a wonderful success. Alongside this is our house charity events; last year my form raised £397 for Torbay RNLI with a bob-a-job and ‘Mini-egg challenge.’

Haydon Wong – Form Captain (9G)

“What I like about Gilbert House is the Expressive Arts Evening. This is an annual event that no other house has and one that makes Gilbert pretty special! It may be nerve racking performing on stage but the atmosphere is so relaxed and chilled out that it becomes more fun than frightening. If I could some up Gilbert House in one word it would be - fun!

Will Squires (10G)

“The best part of being in Gilbert House is competing in House competitions; my favourite event is house rugby. I love it when we all work hard to try and beat the other houses! Everyone gets to take part and you feel part of a team”.

Dean Pomeroy (11G)

“I have loved the Christmas pantomimes. I first took part in Cinderella and most recently Dick Whittington! Being on stage is something I would not have thought of doing but, in Gilbert you are given the confidence to have a go”!
