141 Torquay Boys’ Grammar School ‘A’ Level candidates scored an amazing 71.6% A*s, As and Bs in a record performance. 20 students gained all As and A*s and all 10 Oxford and Cambridge candidates, along with the majority of students, have secured their university places bucking the national trend..
With 15% of entries resulting in A*s, the school is well above the national average of 7% - students averaged 3½ ‘A’ Levels each in yet another outstanding year.
Headmaster Roy Pike congratulated all concerned – staff, students and anxious parents. “The students have put in tremendous effort and we wish them all success in the future”, added Mr Pike.
The picture shows a selection of the top performing A Level students from Torquay Boys'. Altogether these nine students achieved a total of 19 A grades and 20 A*s. There were a further 23 students (not pictured here) who achieved at least 3 As or A*s.
