A Level Results 2011

With 82 students gaining places at the Russell group of universities and 55 at the Top Twenty group, three students achieved 4 straight A*s, with 13 students gaining all As and A*s.  Eight students made it to Oxbridge. 

155 candidates sat 556 examinations; there were 85 A*s, 180 As, 151 Bs, 91 Cs, 33 Ds and 10 Es – the statistics show 47.6% scored A and A* and 74.8% gained A*, A and B. 

Higher than ever were the points per candidate at 375.9 which equates to just over 3

A grades each – a phenomenal achievement by all concerned – the best before was a stellar year in which the students gained 351. 

This is also the first year that the school offered the International Baccalaureate; the outcome saw Torquay Boys’ Grammar School as the top state school in the country with an average point score of 37 with one student gaining 44 points out of 45, placing him in the top 0.5% internationally of all entries.
