AS English Literature Books on sale
Dear Parent
As part of your son's English Literature syllabus at AS level, he is required to study two 20th Century novels in preparation for the terminal examinations. He is allowed to take these novels into the examination room in order to refer to them in his response. (He will also need a poetry anthology which we provide and retain in school, since he will only need to study a few of the poems.)
Since the examination answer is worth 60% of the total Literature assessment, the novels are studied in considerable depth and it has been departmental policy for some years now to recommend that the students purchase their own copies to assist their learning and revision of the novels.
We are studying Anthony Burgess's "A Clockwork Orange" and Graham Greene's "Brighton Rock" and these texts are now available for purchase from the School Shop direct or via the online shop on the school website www.tbgs.co.uk at £5 each, which represents a considerable discount in comparison with the price of these texts in most bookshops.
Obviously we will loan texts to any pupil who is unable to provide his own copy but these must be kept in school. The editions sold in the shop are those prescribed by the examination board.
Please do not hesitate to contact us at school should you require further details.
Yours sincerely,
J A Veale
Head of English
