Chinese New Year
"2011 is the Year of the Rabbit and was celebrated by students at TBGS in various ways. The day before Chinese New Year, Year 8 pupils of Chinese had a morning of cultural activities: gongfu; tai chi; calligraphy and traditional paper cutting. In the afternoon all 200 students of Chinese gathered in the Centenary Hall to watch a performance of traditional dance and gongfu.
For Chinese New Year itself (3rd February) the Year 12 and Year 13 students made and sampled a traditional dish - jiaozi (dumplings). At breaktime Mrs Allen, Miss Ho and Min, the Chinese language assistant, cooked jiaozi and egg-fried rice for anyone in the school to try. There was nothing left!
新年好! (Xinnian hao)!"
