Sixth Form Weekly Tutor Bulletin

Sixth Form Tutors' Bulletin

05.07.10 - 09.07.10

Thank You

The Bulletin would like to convey its appreciation for the superb contribution of so many sixth formers to last week's various induction events and Sports Day. It's not all over yet, however, as there is still an Open Day on Tuesday and Activities Week next week. Thank you in advance for your help with these.

House Captains

There will be a brief briefing today (Monday) at 12.40pm in SF1 for House Captains regarding Open Day tours taking place tomorrow morning and afternoon. In addition, please liaise with your Heads of House about evening tours.

IB Exams

Please remember that the exam sessions start at 8.50am and 12.50pm. There is a copy of the exam timetable on the Exams noticeboard in the Common Room.

Stable Block

Devotees of the Stable Block will be sad to learn that it will be out of action all week due to exams.

Pre-admissions Tests

  • UKCAT testing begins on Tuesday. If you need to take this test then make sure you register on www.ukcat.ac.uk soon to ensure that you get your choice of date and venue.
  • Registration for the other common pre-admissions tests (BMAT, ELAT, TSA, HAT, MAT & PAT) will take place next term and the tests will be conducted in school on Wednesday 3rd November.

Parents' Higher Education Presentation

Please remind your parents about the presentation taking place on Wednesday at 7pm in the Centenary Hall. Any student who is still unsure about the process is welcome to come along in the evening to see a repeat of the presentation from the UCAS Preparation Day two weeks ago. Everyone should now be registered on www.ucas.com/apply, using the buzzword: tbgs2011.

UCAS Prep

Keep up the pressure on yourself as regards your UCAS application.  Have you added any more details to your online application in UCAS Apply? Have you written the first draft of your Personal Statement? Have you conducted any research since last week? There is no better time than now.

Extended Projects

The deadline for first drafts of the Extended Project is this Friday.

There will be a meeting for all of Mrs Madge's Extended Project students on Tuesday at 12.40pm in SF1 (except for those who will see her in today's i.e. Monday's lesson). It is essential that everyone attends.

EMA

All those receiving EMA this year will be contacted directly by the EMA organisation about EMA payments next year.  Any students who did not receive EMA this year but think they may be eligible next year should phone the EMA helpline on 0808 1016219. All eligible students will need to bring in their new contracts. Despite rumours to the contrary the summer bonuses will be paid to all eligible students for one last time before the end of term.

AS Results Arrangements

AS results will be available for collection in the Sixth Form Centre from 10.00am on Thursday 19th August.  Mr Kosmaczewski will be on hand after results have been issued and on the following morning, to discuss any matters arising.

Next Term

The first day back for next year's Year 13 (i.e. you lot) will be Monday 6th September.

What, no merry quip at the end of the Bulletin?

No, life is too serious for that now.
