"Lord of the Flies"

Dear Parent

As part of your son's English Literature syllabus at GCSE level, he is required to study a 20^th Century prose text in preparation for the terminal examinations.  He is permitted to take this novel into the examination room in order to refer to it in his response.

Since the examination answer is worth 30% of the total Literature assessment, the text is studied in considerable depth and it has been departmental policy for some years now to recommend that the students purchase their own copy to assist with their learning and revision of the novel.

We have chosen to study William Golding's "Lord of the Flies" and this text is now available for purchase from the School Shop direct or via the online shop on the school website www.tbgs.co.uk  at a price of £4.50, which represents a considerable discount.

Obviously we will loan texts to any pupil who is unable to provide his own copy but these must be kept in school.
