Gilbert House
Gilbert house is named after Sir Humphrey Gilbert. (c. 1537 - 9 September 1583)
Sir Humphrey Gilbert was an English adventurer, explorer, member of parliament, and soldier from Devon, who served the crown during the reign of Queen Elizabeth I of England. One of the pioneers of English colonization, he claimed what is thought to be the first English property in North America. He was a half-brother (through his mother) of Sir Walter Raleigh.
