ICT at Key Stage 3

Students study a scheme of work loosely based on the ICT National Strategy. The following themes are covered:-

• Finding things out
• Developing ideas and making things happen
• Exchanging and sharing information
• Reviewing, modifying and evaluating work as it progresses

These themes are covered via the study of a range of modules which incorporate learning software skills alongside the ICT capability.

Year 7

• Introduction – Managing files and folders and e-mail
• Presentation – Cinema Presentation
• Desk-Top Publishing – Computer Sales Leaflet including researching on the Internet
• Spreadsheets – The school shop and healthy eating
• Web Site Design – The school prospectus

Year 8

• Presentation – Computer hardware
• Spreadsheets – Mobyphone and School sports day
• Desk-Top Publishing – Sports Day Programme
• Databases – The Crime Database
• Research – 4x4 Vehicles on urban roads
• Public Information Systems – The Weather

Year 9

• Spreadsheets – The teacher’s mark book and Pepford Arena
• Databases – The Waterwings Leisure Centre
• QCA Testing Familiarisation
• OCR Nationals Practice Coursework
