TBGS represents UK at international film conference in Germany

Mr. Russell [ Head of Media ] has recently returned from a four day international film conference in Lingen, Germany set up by the ECAYP [ European Cinema and Young People” ] Network. This has been the third annual meeting of teachers in the partnership directly responsible for film and media education in their own schools and colleges across Europe, as part of a major initiative funded directly by the EU from Brussels, within the Comenius programme.

 

 

 

 

 

While in the UK film and media education are firmly established in the curriculum, this is not the case in most other European countries and the role of the Network has been to encourage the development of film making, as well as the study of film in each of the counties involved in the project.

 

 

 

 

 

The conference [ also filmed by a german documentary film crew ] involved the screening of work from schools in the partnership, educational workshops both academic and practical , and the planning of future Comenius activities intended to build on the achievements of the Network over the last three years.
