Curriculum Support

Each department offers support to students as needed, whenever possible. Here is a summary of sessions available through the year.

LANGUAGESPeriodically there are languages assistants to support students 1:1 throughout the year.
ChineseDrop-in clinic on Thursday lunchtimes called Hanyu Helper. It helps students with Chinese homework, esp. KS3, but not exclusively
Chinese Culture Club - Monday lunchtimes. It is run by language assistant, Molly, and is along the lines of Chinese chess, calligraphy, t'ai chi and the like. Mainly for KS3 but all welcome!
FrenchFrench Support Club, Sixth Form run- Thurs 1pm in IT3
Topic specific grammar support with VB in LA8- open to all.
SpanishSpanish Support Wednesdays 1:00 - 1:30 in LA7 for all - sixth form students at hand to help and support students and teach Spanish to those that want to learn extra things from what we do in lesson.
JapaneseJapanese project on Wednesday from 1:00 - 1:30 in LA7 as well (for some Y7 and Y8 who have expressed an interest in taking part)
GermanGerman Support Friday in LA4, 13.00-13.40h. Sixth formers at hand to help (and possibly German Assistant and Mr. Zursiedel), 1-1 support, open to all.
MathsIT4 is open for Maths Support from 12:40 - 1:30 from Monday to Thurs.
EnglishThe English Success Lab runs every Friday, 12.40, ER3, offering support for all students.
Individuals given time with class teacher as required external to lessons.
Nearer to exams revision sessions for KS4 & 5 are available.
Registration workshops feature through the year.
HistoryIndividuals given time with teacher as required external to lessons
History Society Friday lunchtime H3.
PoliticsPolitics Society, Weds lunchtime H4.
GeographyIndividuals given time with teacher as required external to lessons.
P & A EIndividuals given time with a teacher as required external to lessons.
P & AE support, Wednesday lunchtime in IT7.
SCIENCES
PhysicsThursday 1pm support for students
BiologyScience Club, Tuesday lunchtime. Animal Club Years 7 & 8 most lunchtimes
MedSoc for students interested in any career in healthcare (talks, dissections, guest speakers) - all years welcome BL2 Tues week A
Gardening Club will also run from the Spring term - any age, BL2 Weds lunchtime.
ChemistryAfter School class 1 x week- All teachers will see individuals at lunchtime by arrangement.
Mr Jones For 11P3 and 11Q3 there is help and answer exam questions every start of lunch Monday to Friday inclusive.
AstronomyAstronomy Club Tues and Weds at 1pm.
Computing ScienceComputer Science lunch time sessions on Monday (IT1) and Wednesday (IT2) 1240-1315.
TechnologyLunchtime sessions available for GCSE & A Levels as required.
Business Studies/ EconomicsRevision sessions near exams
- Economics Society once a fortnight
-Time external to lessons when needed by the students.

Weds- Orchestra (MR) 1-1.40 String Grade 1 upwards. Wind Grade 5 upwards
Thurs- Year 9 Rock School (MR) 1-1.40 All welcome
Fri- Jazz Band (MR) 1-1.40 by invitation.
ArtLunchtime support and extension sessions either 1:1 or groups as required
Key Stage 3 Art Club.
PEVarious clubs and teams throughout the year- Badminton, Lifesaving, Sports Leaders Squash, Racquetball, Tennis, Rugby, Football, Swimming, Hockey, Running Club, Volleyball, Multi- Sport, Circuits/ Fitness. See PE staff/ noticeboards for further details.
