Rougemont House

Head of Rougemont House
Mr A. Brown

In Rougemont House, we emphasise the importance of service to one another. As a result, Rougemont is well known for being a supportive community in which students are aided in fulfilling and realising their own potential with the help of their peers and dedicated professional tutoring staff. Initiative and creativity are both encouraged in the house and we regularly formally celebrate each other’s successes and achievements together.

We also have very high expectations of ourselves and expect full participation in the wider life of the school through the plethora of extra-curricular opportunities on offer at Torquay Boys’ Grammar School. As such, students are encouraged to both participate fully and make the most of the opportunities on offer to them and to help support these opportunities by volunteering time and effort to provide opportunities for others.

Those students joining the house become part of a long tradition of scholars who strive for personal excellence and success but recognise their duties and responsibilities to their peers, wider society and the environment. This whole ethos is encapsulated by our motto ‘Inservi ut Ducas’, serve in order that you may lead, which embodies Rougemont House’s commitment to helping to mould fully rounded individuals who have a variety of skills and life experiences that equip them to become future leaders in their adult lives. Thus, the Rougemont graduate seeks to affect change and make positive contributions in life, motivated, not by personal gain, but by a deep commitment to making the world a better place.
